Custom Solutions

When off-the-shelf just won’t do.

Off-the-shelf products don’t always solve the design problem at hand. Perhaps the scale is not right, the finish offerings are too limited, or the quality is just not there. Metropolis Design Group can design any number of custom solutions with proficiency, factoring in lead time, logistics, and budget. We have many established relationships with local contractors, craftsmen, artisans and workrooms. We are able to source just the right material, finish or textile needed to complete the project. Through this creative process we are confident we’ll find the perfect solution for you.

  • A modern broadloom carpet is templated and fabricated to perfectly fit this turn-of-the-century staircase and the hallway above.
  • Inset penny round tiles mimic the bathroom’s original arch shape leading into the showering space.
  • A bold but sophisticated linen is used for a custom shower curtain in this otherwise totally neutral bathroom.

  • A stunning piece of six centimeter limestone cantilevers over kitchen counters to form a dining peninsula in this modern home.
  • A abrupt opening at the client’s front door and heavy stair railings left things tight and crowded at the entry of this home. Custom cable railings were installed, floors were finished in a blonde stain to lighten things up, and the bottom few steps waterfall into the living room to instantly lead and welcome guests into the home.
